Thank you to everyone for the season we were able to have this year! Congratulations to all of the girls for all of their successes, and thank you for all of the hard work that was put in!
Congrats to Courtney for being a two time State runner-up and three time All-State performer in shot put!
Thank you for all the support from all the parents and thank you to the coaches that put forth a great amount of energy to help the girls get through this tough year!
If there is anything any of you would wish to see next year, please let me know. I hope to improve this site so it becomes a better line of communication.
Thank you,
Denny

State
The Girls Track and Field team ended their team season on
Friday at the Section 5AA Meet tying for 8th out of 16 teams.
This was by far the best overall meet for the team with many season or personal
bests and with the team gaining more points than what was expected!
Congratulations to Amber Harris and Courtney Pasiowitz for qualifying for the
State Meet this coming Friday and Saturday. Amber finished in 2nd
place in the 300m hurdles and will be returning for the 2nd year in
a row, and Courtney repeated as Section Champion and also set a new Section
Record in the Shot Put and will be returning to try for a 3rd
All-State Performance. Below is a link to the heat sheets for the State Meet, so you can see where the girls are compared to the rest of the individuals who have made it to State.

Also, please remember that our Team Banquet will be on Monday, Jun 3rd at 6:00pm in the High School Cafeteria. The girls have chosen to have a more formal affair and a Pot Luck meal. Please refer to the earlier post in regards to what to bring.
Thanks for all of your support this season and if there are any questions, please let me know!

Section Meet
Below is the schedule's for this weeks Section 5AA Meet at Hamline University. It is very similar to the schedule from last weeks NWSC Meet, but please note the 3200m and that one heat will be run in the middle of the meet, and one at the end, 3 hours later on Wednesday. Also, please be aware that parking at Hamline is not easy, nor is there a lot of spots available. If you are able to car pool, this will help a bit, but also please give yourself plenty of time for arrival before your athletes events. There will also be admission fee, (cannot find the amount in the information given, but will find out), and T-shirt sales. One thing of note, please, do not go inside of the track area. Most areas will be roped off, so please stay out of those areas of competition.
Finally, it is not confirmed, but we are planning to have uniform turn in for all athletes that do not make it to State, on Monday, June 3rd after school. If this changes, I will let everyone know.
Thanks
Denny
1st place in each heat plus the next fastest
times to fill all lanes will advance in all running events
400m or less and the hurdle events.

Conference and Beyond
I was hoping that there would be a web site that would have results from the NWSC Meet this week, but nothing is being posted. If I can find a way to attach them to this blog, I will get them up.
But, I am very proud of the girls this week. Most people would have looked at the fact that we only had one girl running in a final yesterday as a down year, but we had 5 races in which we had someone almost make the finals, which is big in the fact that most were not even supposed to be close! Plus, yesterday, all four of our relay's showed dramatic improvements and either ran best times for the year and/or moved up from where it was ranked coming into the meet, with the biggest jump being the 4x100m team that was ranked 8th and finished 3rd and getting All-Conference honors!! The girls definitely had their best day of the year, and would have been fun to see what this group could have done with a normal spring, and if we wouldn't have had as many injuries/illnesses to top athletes. But, the girls have not quit and continue to push despite the number of negatives they have had to deal with.
The JV Meet for next Thursday at Andover has been cancelled. The Andover team is not getting much interest from their athletes so they have decided to no move forward with the meet. So, our JV runners are officially done, but we would love for them to continue to practice, especially those that are going to be back next week.
Couple of dates to look for in the next couple of weeks:
Today, team voting is after school
Monday, May 27, 6:00pm practice at the track to accomodate those that are planning on being out of town for the weekend.
Wednesday, May 29, Day 1 of the Section 5AA Meet at Hamline University. Meet starts at 2:00 (Meet schedule will be posted next week)
Friday, May 31, Day 2 of the Section 5AA Meet at Hamline University. Meet starts at 11:30
Monday, June 3, Uniform Turn In for anyone who did not qualify for the State Meet right after school.
Friday, June 7 and Saturday June 8, State Meet at Hamline University
Monday, June 10, Team Banquet at CRHS Cafeteria at 6:00pm
If there are any questions about any of this, please let me know,
Thanks
Denny

Today
Day 1 of the Conference Meet is upon us and it looks like the weather will have a say in how things will happen, what a shock. Everything is a go and will happen even if it is raining, though. One change though is that the Girls High Jump and the Boys Pole Vault will be inside the high school, in the Field House.
As for the weather, it appears that it will be raining at some point in the meet, if not the whole time. Things will go on as planned unless there is lightning or heavy rain, in which things will be delayed at first. They are hoping that the weather will not be too severe to have to delay until tomorrow, and finish all of it today, even if it takes longer.
I will be out at the track or working in the Field House all day today getting things ready, so if you have any questions, please contact the AD Secretary. If a major weather delay occurs before the meet starts, I will try to get a message out to everyone.
But, the meet is starting at 3:00 and you will probably have to park on the High School side of Northdale, so give yourself plenty of time and remember that there is an admission cost of $6 for adults and $4 for students.
Thanks
Denny

Up Coming Shedule/Results
Below is a link to the results for yesterday's St Francis Invite. Considering we had only about 1/3 of our Varsity there, I thought it was a very positive day in which the girls finished 5th out of 10 teams.
http://wayzatatiming.com/track/2013/StFrancis/Results.htm
This is Conference Week, so we are getting closer to the end of the season. The schedule for the meets is at the bottom of this blog. Please note when the 3200m Run is, as well as which day each field event is and that the Relay's and 1600m Run are on Thursday only. For all other events, Tuesday will be prelims, where the top athletes will qualify for the finals on Thursday.
There will be an admission price to get in: ADMISSION OF $6.00 FOR ADULTS AND $4.00 FOR STUDENTS ON BOTH TUESDAY, MAY 21st FOR THE PRELIMS and THURSDAY, MAY 23rd FOR THE FINALS
We have decided to add one more meet for the JV athletes. This will be an informal meet at Andover, with just the two schools. This meet will be held on Thursday, May 30th and will probably start at about 3:30 and they are hoping to be done before 6:00. This will be for anyone that does not compete at the Section Meet that week, so this will be a great opportunity for the JV athletes to get two more weeks of practice in so they can continue to develop and give a better understanding of what we will have going into next year since we have missed out on so many opportunities to develop this season with the weather.
If there are any questions about anything, please let me know,

Thursday/Saturday
If yesterday is the last JV Meet of the season, then the girls had their best day of the season and ended on a very positive note. There were no meet results kept, but as we competed and watched how each event played out, we definitely would have finished in a high position as a team! The other nice thing that occurred is that a few girls will be making pushes to be on the Section Team with how they competed and their times/marks. With that, we as a coaching staff hope that all of the girls continue to practice for the next two weeks plus and continue to improve and show to us that they do want to be apart of the Section Team. We had to have names and times/marks in for the NWSC Meet next week, before the start of the JV Conference Meet, so some spots would have changed with how the girls competed. I will let them all know at practice today, and forewarn the Varsity team that the JV may be taking some of their spots!
Tomorrow's meet is planned to go. It appears that there will be a chance of rain/storms, but the meet will go on as planned unless there is a complete down pour, or if there is lightning, in which case we will need to wait a half an hour from the last strike of lightning. The Meet Directors will make that decision.
I will be putting the time schedule for next weeks NWSC Meet up on Sunday so no one is confused with tomorrow's schedule. One thing of note though, the 3200m Run will be on Tuesday, and the 1600m Run and all Relay's will be on Thursday.
Finally, in a couple of hours I will be posting information about the end of season banquet. The date for this year is Monday, June 10, and it will be held in the CRHS cafeteria at 6:00pm.
If you have any questions about any of this, please let me know,

Thursday/Saturday
Morning!
Despite the heat from Tuesday, we made it through with some positive performances and were able to figure out a few more things as we move forward. There were no results from Tuesday's meet, so could not tell you how we finished.
Today's JV meet at Elk River was planned to start at 4:00, but I just double checked with Elk River and it is now at 3:45. This will be a normal scheduled meet, and with 5 teams we probably will not get home until after 8:00 tonight.
Saturday's St Francis Invite will be starting at 10:00am. Our bus will leave at 8:30. Below is the time schedule. We are hoping to be home around 5:00, but if your athlete is competing and they need to leave early, please call me or have your athlete bring a note so I know who is leaving and when.
Thank you to the parents that have offered to help at next weeks Conference Meet on Tuesday and Thursday. I am still looking for one parent to help with the 5:00-7:00 shift on Thursday. If Interested, please let me know.
Thanks

Conference Meet Concession Stand
Good Morning!
Found out last night that the Girls Track Team will be in charge of one of the concession stands at next weeks Conference Meet at Coon Rapids. We will need parent help for both days and have it blocked off into two, 2 hour shifts, 3:00-5:00, 5:00-7:00. We will have to be there a little before and a little after, but we are in need of parents to be there. If you would like to help out during one of these times, please comment to this post or call me. I will put the time schedule for the Conference Meet on here in a couple of day.s
Any questions, please let me know,
Thanks

TT Results
http://www.mshsca.org/track/13ttresults/4aaa%20results%202013.pdf
I was finally able to find the results from last Tuesday's True Team Meet online. Just click on the link above.
Tomorrow's meet at Robbinsdale Armstrong is on schedule, and will have a normal schedule of events, with the first race starting at 3:45. The temps are supposed to be a little hot tomorrow, so please be prepared (there is not a lot of shade at this track).
Reminder that we have rescheduled the St Francis Invite to this Saturday, May 18. We are not sure yet who we are planning on taking, but we will probably do a lot of prep work for next weeks Conference.
Lastly, this is not a definite yet, but we may be doing a JV Meet on Thursday, May 30 at Andover to make up for the meet we lost last Thursday. As soon as I can confirm this, I will let you know.
Any questions, please let me know,
Thanks

Reminder that we have rescheduled the St Francis Invite to this Saturday, May 18. We are not sure yet who we are planning on taking, but we will probably do a lot of prep work for next weeks Conference.
Lastly, this is not a definite yet, but we may be doing a JV Meet on Thursday, May 30 at Andover to make up for the meet we lost last Thursday. As soon as I can confirm this, I will let you know.
Any questions, please let me know,
Thanks

New School Record
Sorry this took so long, was waiting to see if there would be a web site for results, but there have not been any yet for yesterday's True Team Section meet. Once they are posted somewhere I will post here. But, the girls showed improvement yesterday in Elk River and finished in a solid 4th place. We know as a group that we can improve and we are getting closer. With the poor weather, a lot of girls are behind in the race department, so we are trying to advance them without beating them down.
The biggest event with yesterday's meet was the new school record that Courtney Pasiowitz achieved in the Shot Put. The former record of 43'6" was set in 1997, and was one that Courtney has been aiming for and was finally able to take it down with a throw of 44'1.25"!! Congrats to Courtney and we are hoping she keeps moving that record further out three!
Tomorrow is a JV meet at Anoka. Races start at 3:30 and it will be a normal schedule of events. There is no time schedule, and some years this meet has gone by really fast and others it is dragged. I believe there will be 5 teams, but it could be as many as 9.
Finally, the team pictures will be on Friday after school at the track. All athletes will get order forms tomorrow and will need to wear their uniform for the team picture.
If there are any questions, please let me know.
Thanks

Mega Meet/True Team
Sorry I didn't get this posted sooner, but was waiting for a link to the results so I could put them on here, and they didn't show up until this morning. Saturday was a tough day with the weather, and it was going to be difficult for PR's, but there were a few that were able to fight through the elements and had their best days of the season. So here are the results: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B4VP82uerTj1NFBxT0xDd2hucWs/edit?usp=sharing&pli=1
As for tomorrow, the True Team Section Meet at Elk River, well first, the weather actually looks like it is going to be nice!! So, I am hoping the girls will be excited and ready to see what they can do. It is the normal schedule of events starting at 3:45. There was no time schedule, so the events may run fast or slow, depending on if there are any issues. The girls will go first in each event on the track.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Thanks

There will be a spectator fee: $6.00 adults and $4.00 for students. Spectators should enter between the tennis courts.
The other thing that is different for this meet compared to the others, is the fact that every athlete that finishes there event or is not disqualified, will receive points. The team that has the most points at the end of the meet will qualify for the True Team State Meet in two weeks. Here is the scoring system:
Relay Events 36-32-28-24-20-16-12-8-4
This is based on 9 teams, and three athletes per team, per event, and one relay team. If an athlete is disqualified in their running event or scratches/no heights in their field events, they and their team get 0 points, and every one behind them moves up. This also applies in the relay's.

Saturday
Below is the time schedule for Saturday's Mega Meet at Sauk Rapids. The meet is actually at the Middle School,
Sauk Rapids/ Rice Middle School 901 S 1st St
and there will be an admission price as well, $6 Adults $4 Students. Sounds like the weather may have a little bit of coldness and wetness to it, so please be prepared. Being that this is a bigger meet, it would have to be some nasty weather for the meet to be cancelled.
Any questions, please let me know,
Thanks

Blaine Results
http://67.23.19.61/system/files/9123/original/Blaine.pdf?1367369483
Above are the results from last nights Blaine Invite. When I am able to, I will either put the web address to the results or let you know where they can be found. This will only be for the bigger meets that use a timing service.
As for how things went last night, it was a positive step from last weeks meets, but we still have a lot of things to work on and we as a group of coaches are working hard to give the girls the best opportunities to reach their goals. With the goofy weather we have had this year, we will have to make some changes just to get the girls going without having the number of races that we are used to that are used as development.
Tomorrow is still being planned despite the weather predictions. If something changes I will let you know as soon as I can. The one difference in start time. On our schedule it was to start at 3:00, but Andover has changed the time. So, field events will start at 3:30 and running events at 4:00, with the normal schedule of events.
The girls will also know today or tomorrow if they will be competing in Saturday's Mega Meet at Sauk Rapids.
Any questions, please let me know,
Thanks
Denny

Next Up, Another Change!
So I was thinking, what would I post on this blog if it wasn't for all of the changes and cancelations that keep happening? haha, whew!
So, the next change has occurred already. Tomorrow's meet with Champlin Park has been moved to Thursday of this week, April 25th due to the fact of snow, again. Yes this is the same day as the Centennial 9/10 Meet, but we are going to go to both. All 9th/10th graders will go to Centennial unless they are Varsity or if they have a sibling that is a 11th/12th grader (we want to keep the families together). Those that will not be going to Centennial, will then be going to Champlin Park. We will divide up all of our coaches the best that we can, and will work with the boys coaches on this as well. Both meets will run a normal schedule of events, starting at 3:45, with Champlin probably going a little quicker due to the fact that there will only be one other team besides ourselves, where Centennial is to have 8 total teams.
We as coaches will sit down and go over who will be going where and let the athletes know as soon as we can.
If there are any questions about this, please let me know. Oh, and it says in the Star Tribune today that we might hit 70 on Sunday! Um, I will believe it, when it happens!
Thanks
Denny

Meets Cancelled
"Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!" It really should be "Where's the Sunshine!", and the warmth! I know that this is becoming the season of frustration for many people, not to mention the teams and coaches, and all of you as fans, families, and supporters of our program as well as others. But, we are trying to preach patience and to become more resilient to the things we cannot control.
So, with that, sad to say that the meets on Friday and Saturday have been cancelled due to the weather. Friday's meet will not be rescheduled, but Saturday's is being rescheduled for May 18. We have not decided if we are going to keep that on our schedule yet. The coaches and I are going to talk about it today and make a decision that will be best for the whole program.
Also, as of right now, Monday's and Tuesday's meets are still being planned as if they are going to happen. As soon as I hear anything I will let you all know.
Thanks again for all of your support and think warm, sunny, happy thoughts!! :)
Any questions, please let me know

Thursday's Meet Rescheduled
Just been notified that Thursday's Shakopee Invite has been rescheduled to Monday, April 22. We will be attending this meet, despite the fact that we also have a meet on Tuesday.
Also, and we are still finalizing this, there is a good chance that we will be going to Centennial on Friday for a JV Meet. Knowing that we are losing so many meets, we want to try and get something in for all the athletes. I will notify everyone once this is final.
Lastly, as of right now, our meet on Saturday, the St Francis Invite, is still a go. Since Thursday is changed and Friday is possibly for JV, this will be a Varsity Meet. We will come up with a list of who will be competing and get it posted for the athletes as soon as we can.
If you have any questions, please let me know,
Thanks
Denny

Friday's Meet is Cancelled
Well, as you can see with the lovely amount of snow that we have gotten, our meet on Friday has been cancelled. They are wanting to reschedule it to the 18th of April, but we are already committed to the Shakopee Invite, in which we will also be able to have more athletes compete.
We will have practice today, so long as the school doesn't cancel all after school activities.
And so goes the Spring of 2013!! Hopefully we will be out and competing in meets soon!!
Any questions, please let me know,
Thanks

Friday Meet Cancelled
First off, the meet on Friday, the Cambridge Invite, has been cancelled due to snow/water cover at the Cambridge Track. The meet has been rescheduled to Friday, May 10 (yep, the fishing opener weekend), but we have declined to go, and not because of the fishing, but because we are looking for a good practice day at that time.
Second, there will not be any overall results for last nights meet, but the Centennial coach did keep score throughout the meet yesterday and the Coon Rapids Girls came in 1st!! Despite the change in some events, the harsher breathing conditions from being inside, and the bit of chaos from having that many people in such a smaller area, it was a very positive start. It was good for the girls to have the competition type setting and to be going against two other schools. There was a bit of a different energy compared to the practices, so even though it was more of Time Trial/Scrimmage, it was a good time. We found somethings that we can build off of and a few areas that we need to work on, especially now that we can start being outside, so we will continue to move forward and see what we can do.
Lastly, as of right now our meet next Tuesday at Centennial is still being planned. The Centennial coach mentioned that the Track is clear, as are most of the areas, but they are hoping for things to dry out a little more. Look for us to be going there next week and facing the same two teams. This will be day that we will figure out who will be competing at next Friday's Irondale Twilight, which will be a meet in which we are limited on the number of athletes that can be in each event.
Any questions, please let me know
Thanks

First Meet
With the weather that we have so enjoyed this winter/spring, we have already had to make a change to our schedule. Our first meet, April 2nd at Centennial, has been changed. Because we will probably not be able to run outside by this date, we have moved our meet indoors. Also, to accomodate this, we have had to change the date as well. The meet will now be on Monday, April 1st at the University of Minnesota Indoor Track (I will post directions when we get closer to the meet). The time has also changed and will be later, so please plan accordingly. It will start at 6:00pm and run until about 10:00pm. We are still going against Blaine and Centennial, but the meet schedule will be different. We are still working on the schedule, and I will let you know once we have it figured out.
Any questions, please let me know. Once again, first meet has been changed, so there will be no meet on April 2nd. The meet is as follows:
Monday, April 1st, U of M, 6-10pm.
Also, as of right now, the meet on April 5th at Cambridge is still schedule as planned,
Thanks

Fundraising
Just letting everyone know that our fundraising started today and will finish on Wednesday, March 27. We are hoping for a positive fundraiser. Individual athletes would need to sell 8 shirts or a donations of $50. For those of you that are families on the team, you would only need to sell 12 shirts or a $75 donation, not 16 or $100. If you have any questions about this, please let me know.
Thanks,
Denny
