Blaine Invite

Here is a link to the Start List for tomorrow's Blaine Invite: Blaine Start List. This is an easy way to know what heat and lane your runner(s) is, or what flight they are for their field event.

One other thing of note, they changed the start time of the meet to 3:30 for field events and 3:45 for the running events, with the normal order of events set for this meet.

If there are any questions, please let me know,
Thanks,
Denny

Centennial 9/10 Results

Results for the Centennial 9/10 are now posted on the right side of the blog.  I also included a link to the overall meet results as well.

It was a positive day for us though.  Many of the girls that competed were able to improve on their times, heights, and distances from the meets on Tuesday.  Not always easy to do when there is only one day of practice, but it shows how hard the girls working to be able to improve.  We know that we still have a lot of work to do and in order for us to move up we have to do a little more than others.  It won't be easy, but it will be fun to see how the girls work in practice and the improvements that lie ahead from that work.

Tonight, Brielle will be running in the Hamline Elite Meet in the 100m.  Her prelim race is at 5:37, and if she qualifies for the finals, then she will be running again around 6:30.  You will be able to follow along at Wayzata Results, which you can click on at the top of the blog.

Next week will be the Blaine Invite on Tuesday, a Varsity Meet, which means we will be limited, and then a JV meet at Coon Rapids on Thursday.  The girls will find out on Monday if they will be competing on Tuesday and which events.  If they do not compete on Tuesday, they will be for sure on Thursday then.  We will send out more information on Sunday or Monday.

If there are any questions, let me know,
Thanks
Denny

Tuesday Results

Sorry it took so long to get all of the individual results out, but it was a late night for me and then had to wait on a few results this morning.

But, on the right side of the blog, you will find the individual results for yesterday's Roseville Invite and the Centennial Tri.  One thing to note about the results in regards to the timed events.  The Roseville Invite was timed electronically (accu-track) and the Centennial Tri was hand timed.  So, some times, especially in the short sprints, are actually not 100% accurate for those that ran at Centennial, but in most cases, if you add .24 onto those times, you will be closer to what the actual time would be.  Just one of those little things that happen with track meets.

As for how we did, things were definitely positive in the fact that we were able to get out and compete again.  There were some real solid performances and improvements in both meets, and the girls are starting to fill into some of the spots/events that were are lacking.  Some of those spots will take some time to get to where we would like, but it is nice to see them step up and help out.

I will get links up to the overall results to both meets as well.  At Roseville we were 4th of 8 teams and 3rd of 3 at Centennial. (The overall meet results for both meets can be found by clicking on the individual meet results for us, and at the top of those pages will be a link to the overall results)

Thursday's Centennial 9/10 Meet will start at 3:45 and will go with the normal order of events.  We will bring more than the 9th and 10th graders.  We will bring the middle school athletes and possibly some older girls to fill events or get them more competition since we have missed a few meets.

If there are any questions, please let me know,
Thanks
Denny

Week of April 23rd

Well, we are finally getting a chance to get some meets in this week, and it will be a busy week.
We will have practice on Monday at 3:00.  Even though the students don't have school, most of our coaches are still working, so practice will be at normal time.
Tuesday is the Roseville Invite for the Varsity (Start time of 3:30), with the rest of the team going to Centennial (Start time of 3:45).  The girls will find out at Monday's practice which meet they will be in and if they are at Roseville, which event(s) they will be in.
Thursday is the Centennial 9/10 Meet.  We will be taking the 10th grade and younger athletes, 7th and 8th grade included, but we may take some Juniors and Seniors as well if we feel we need to get them in since we have been short on races.  Those that do not go to this meet will still have practice as usual.
Friday's Hamline Elite Meet is one in which we will submit times, heights, or distances, as will any other team in the state, and they will take the top so many (8 for most running events, but it vary's between each event).  We will not find out who will qualify until some time on Wednesday.
Also, just to make sure everyone is clear, the Girl's team will NOT be going to the St Thomas Meet on Friday.  That is a Boy's only meet.
I will put the information for all of the meets out the day before so you are prepared.
If there are any questions, please let me know,
Thanks
Denny

Wednesday Shovel Party

Practice Wednesday is going to be spent shoveling off our track and some of the field areas. We going to be doing this with the boys team, so we are hoping this could be a job that takes around an hour and a half. We will need the girls to bring a few shovels so we can do this job more efficiently since we don't have that many at the school, so any we can get will be great.
The reason behind this is so we can see if we can get some sort of meet in by Friday. So, with this, we are needing the help of all of the girls.
Any questions, please let me know.
Thanks,
Denny

The meet on Tuesday at Anoka has been cancelled due to the snow.  As of right now we don't have anything to replace it, but I am looking and even going to see if we can put something together for the end of the week.
Any other changes, I'll let you know,
Thanks

Centennial Results

The results from today's time trial at Centennial are now posted on the right side of the blog.  Once again, there were no team results kept, so cannot say where we would have placed in the meet.

But, it was good, and fun, to get out and to get a few races in for the girls and to get them seeing where they are at with their goals and what they need to work on, as well as what we need to work on as coaches.  There were some very solid performances and we got to see what the girls were made of with the below average meet weather.  It gives us as coaches a lot of positives to see the girls put so much in when the weather is not perfect, and that is something that we can build off of.

Thanks to all of the parents and other fans that came out into the cold as well to support the girls!

Centennial Tuesday Meet

So, we are going to have a "sort of" meet on Tuesday at Centennial.  There will be no Field events due to the current conditions, so those athletes that only do a field event will stay behind at school for practice.  Also, due to the predicted temps, they have taken out a couple of events to help make the meet go a little quicker.  The schedule that they will be using is listed below, but the three events that they took out are the 4x100m relay, the 300IM Hurdles, and the 3200m, one from each of the different categories of running events (Sprints, Hurdles, Distance).
Lastly, because a lot of events will be missing, there will not be any official meet results.  We will get times for all of our athletes, but there will be no overall winners.
Any questions, please let me know, and dress warm if you are coming to watch tomorrow!
Denny

Start of the races is at 3:45
4x800m
100/110 High Hurdles
100m
4x200m
1600m
400m
800m

4x400m

Centennial: 4707 North Road, Circle Pines, 55014.  Go East on Hwy 10, then merge onto Interstate 35W North.  Go north on 35W to the Lexington Ave exit and take a right.  Take a left on North Road (101st Ave NE).  School will be on left about a mile after Lexington.

Sartell Invite Change

With the weather we have had this past week or so, we are going to be running through some schedule changes for our meets.  As of right now, Centennial is holding onto hope that they will be able to host a meet on Tuesday next week, 4/10.  They shoveled off their track the past couple of days, so they are hoping to not get much snow this weekend.  As soon as there is any notification of a change, I will let you know.

There is, however, been a change for next Friday's meet at Sartell, 4/13.  They have over a foot of snow on their track still, so they have changed the meet to Saturday, 4/14, and have moved it to St John's University where we will be using their indoor track.  The meet time is from 10:00 - 2:00, with the buses leaving at 8:00am from the high school.  We know that Prom is on Saturday, and have been notifying the girls of this fact.  I will have a team list at practice today to check on who will be at Prom and cannot go, or would not be able to go for other reasons, thus making sure we are able to fill the spots we will have for the meet.  I will be sending out more information once we are notified and a schedule of events once they are finalized.

Thanks,
Denny

Week Ahead

Here are just a couple of things for this week.  We are still a little over a week until our first outdoor meet, so we will be still working on getting the girls ready.
Monday is the last day for team apparel.  We sent these forms out to the girls, but here is a link if you did not see it.  Everything is ordered online: Team Apparel  None of this is mandatory, just some items offered if you or your athlete would like to purchase.  The team jackets will hopefully be in before or first meet.
Tuesday is ACT test day for some of the students at the High School, with the rest of the High School having the day off.  Even though the test will be done before noon, we are still having practice at 3:00 since we as coaches still have to work and the Middle School girls are still in school all day.
We are hoping to have either good weather or a good location to practice on Friday, for we are wanting to do our first Team Relay day, which is to be a fun practice for the girls focusing on team bonding.
Any questions, please let me know,
Thanks
Denny
