Kennedy 5th at State!

Congratulations to Kennedy Martinson as she earned All State Honors today at the Minnesota State Meet, finishing in 5th place in a very tight race. 3rd through 7th places were .05 seconds apart, with 1st and 2nd place being just a couple of tenths of a second ahead of this group.  It’s a great way to end the season and something that we can definitely build off of going into next year!! Great Job Kennedy and congrats to her event coach Patti as well for helping get her to this point!!

Section Results

Congratulations to Kennedy Martinson as she won the 100 High Hurdles at yesterday's Section 5AA meet, qualifying for next Saturday's State Meet by running a school record time of 14.59!!

Kennedy will be our only representative at the State Meet, but it was an overall positive day with many personal bests and placings above where we were seeded going into the meet.  Kennedy also was a podium finisher in the 300 Hurdles finishing in 3rd, just missing qualifying in this event as well.  Grace Kehr moved up to take 4th in Pole Vault in an all-time PR of 10'6".  Mikayla de Souza moved up in the 100m dash to finish as the 5th fastest girl in the Section, as well as finish in a season PR in the 200m dash to finish in 8th.  Alsita Suah improved by over a foot in the Triple Jump to move into 9th place overall, as the 4x800m relay team of Ava Kehr, Zoe Hoaglund, Stella Bone, and Ilsa Hoaglund fought hard to finish in 8th and the 4x200m team of Rory Ruotsinoja, Alsita Suah, Belinda Griffith, and Mikayla de Souza ran a season best time to finish in 9th overall.  All results can be found at Wayzataresults.com.

Great work to all of the Girls as they all fought hard to finish off the season on a positive note!!

To help end the season, we will be collecting uniforms tomorrow, Monday, June 14th at 10:00am at the Pole Vault area.  We will also collect any exercise bands that are still out, as well as hand out Letter and Participation awards, as well as the All-Conference and Honorable Mention Awards.  If someone is not able to be there tomorrow to hand in their uniforms, please bring them to the main office when you have the opportunity.

Thanks to everyone for all of their work and support this year.  It has been a different season, and things could have been different in many different ways, but we did what we could with the opportunities and athletes we got to work with and there were so many positives that are going to help us build for the seasons to come!  It was fun, but hopefully it will be more fun in the upcoming years!!

Thanks,
Denny

Section Meet Schedule, Day 1 (Wednesday)

Below is the schedule for Day 1 of the Section 5AA Meet on Wednesday.  This meet is at Mounds View High School this year (directions below), and will be on 2 days, Wednesday is primarily the prelims day and finals are on Saturday.  However, some events will be finals on Wednesday, the 3200m run, and 3 field events for the girls and 3 for the boys.  Also, the 1600m run will not be held until Saturday. The 3 field events for the Girls on Wednesday are Long Jump, High Jump, and Discus.

Bus and start times have changed from what was originally posted, partially due to the heat that is supposed to be on both days.  For Wednesday, the bus will be leaving at 9:30 and the first events will be at 11:00.  Saturday the bus will leave at 8:00am and the first events are at 10:00am.

In the past, there has been an entry fee to get into the Section 5AA Meet, but we have not seen anything yet if there is going to be.  I would guess that spectators will need to pay.  Once I hear I will let everyone know.  There will be t-shirt sales though.

Lastly, for practices this week, we will continue to have all the field event and distance practices starting at their usual times and locations, with the sprints and hurdles being at Anoka at 5:00 on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, bus leaving at 4:50.  As for Friday, since school is completed, I am waiting to hear when Anoka will be practicing before determining when we will going there.

Thanks,
Denny

District 11 Relay Results

Our Individual results from today's District 11 Relay Meet at Anoka are now posted on the right side of the blog.  Once we get the Overall results I will post those as well.

But, on a hot afternoon/evening, the girls were able to get some last minute prep work done in a very low key, more fun meet.  There were some improvements and some positives, and we will be prepared for next week now that we have had a hot weather meet under our belts.  There were some that were affected by the heat, so please make sure all that competed today, no matter how short or long, get plenty of water in them!

Thanks for all of those that came out today.  We will be posting the Section line up within the next couple of days.

Conference Results

Results from today's Northwest Suburban Conference Meet are posted below.  I will work on putting together our Individual results over the weekend.

The Girls had a solid day though. In a pretty close battle in the middle of the pack, the Girl's finished in 10th place out of the 14 teams, but were not that far out of the top 5.  The Girls were able to place higher in many events than where they were seeded, thus helping us gain more points than what was probably expected.

Congratulations to Kennedy M for winning the 100 High Hurdles today while finishing in 3rd in the 300 Intermediate Hurdles while earning All Conference Honors in both events. Kennedy also was an Honorable Mention winner in Pole Vault, finishing in 5th.

Other Honorable Mention winners today went to:
Grace K in Pole Vault and the Triple Jump
Mikayla D in the 100m Dash
The 4x100 relay team of Rennell C, Rory R, Lucy N, and Mikayla D
The 4x400 relay team of Rory R, Kennedy M, Ava K, and Mikayla D
and the 4x800 relay team of Ava K, Zoe H, Stella B, and Ilsa H

Conference Meet Delayed to Friday

Due to the predicted continuous rain for Thursday, a decision was made this morning to move the meet to Friday, and then to make it one combined meet with 14 teams vs 2 sessions of 7. Below is the updated schedule, and we will have the bus leave at 8:30. The hope is to have it done sooner in the afternoon so people leaving out of town for the weekend are still able to and hopefully not miss any of their events.
Thanks
Denny

Friday Time Schedule

Week Ahead

A couple of items as we look ahead to this week upcoming week.

First, due to the Varsity field getting artificial turf starting on Monday, the field and track are no longer available for us to use for practice.  However, the only ones this will affect are the sprinters and hurdlers, everyone else will still be able to practice at their regular times as well as locations.  With the sprinters and hurdlers we will be practicing at Anoka High School but not until 5:00.  There will be a bus to pick up and drop off, leaving CRHS at 4:50.  Athletes are allowed to drive to and from or be dropped off at Anoka if it is easier.  I would not expect practices to last much more than an hour.  As mentioned, everyone else will still practice regularly.

Second, below is the schedule for Thursday's NWSC Meet at Maple Grove.  This is a limited Varsity meet with those competing and in what at the bottom of this post as well.  The bus will leave at 2:30. What will be different this year is that the meet is only on one day and half of the Conference will go in the morning and the other half in the afternoon, we are in the afternoon.  Once both sessions are completed, all stats will be combined and then we will see where we finished as a team and if we have any All-Conference or Honorable Mention winners.

If you have any questions, please let me know,
Thanks
Denny

True Team Results

Our Individual Results from tonight's True Team meet at Anoka are now posted on the right side of the blog.  How the Overall results will work is that this year the True Team Meet will be virtual, so we will enter all of our Heights, Distances, and Times into a web page and then once everyone in our Section have entered theirs, all of the results will be compiled and points will be given to determine the top team, as well as top individuals.  With True Team scoring, everyone that is entered into an event, that has finished and did not scratch in a field event, will be given a point, with 1st place getting 27 points and 27th place getting 1 point (9 teams x 3 individuals per team = 27 points).  Once we get those results I will post them as well, and let everyone know who are top performers of the meet were!

As for how things went tonight, much improvement by those that competed and some were needing to do events that they have not done in the past.  We are dealing with a bit of the injury bug, so some decisions were needed to be made last second.  Thanks to those that did step and helped us be able to complete some events!!

Next up is a JV meet at Spring Lake Park on Thursday, where even some that competed today will get a few more races in.

Thanks for the parents that were there and supporting everyone!!

Week Ahead

Here are a couple of things for the week ahead:

Both Tuesday's Varsity at Anoka (3:00 start time, 2:00 bus time) and Thursday's JV meet at Spring Lake Park (3:45 start time, 2:45 bus time) will be full schedule meets.  Please look at the Normal Order of Events link on the right side of the blog.  We were not given a time schedule for either though, so it is hard to say what time everything will be.  Also, some of those that will compete on Tuesday will also compete on Thursday.  We are at a point in the season where we want to get everyone as many events as we can, so some JV will be bumped up Tuesday and some Varsity will do double duty with the JV meet on Thursday.

Team Pictures are going to be on Wednesday May 19th, for those that are interested in the team pictures, please text the code PGNT88967 to 90738 and then David Banks Studios will notify you when the pictures are available to be viewed and ordered.

As for the JV athletes, even though this week is the last "JV Meet," we are still going to have plenty of opportunities for them to compete.  We will need to have some JV for both of the Conference and Section meets, but then also we will have the District 11 relay meet, which should be a fun meet with different events.  We will be communicating this with our athletes as well.

Lastly, below are those competing and the events that they will be in for Tuesday's Varsity True Team meet as of right now.  We are still waiting to hear on a few and then piece them into their events.
Any questions, please let me know,
Thanks,
Denny

Season Updates

Our individual results from the Dual today at Champlin Park are now posted on the right side of the blog.  There will not be any overall results for this meet.  But, there were definite improvements today, many seasonal PR's (Personal Records) and even a few all-time PR's, but there are still areas that we are trying to put together, so it was far from a perfect race for us.

There are a couple of updates for the rest of the season.  First, Team Pictures are going to be on Wednesday next week, May 19th, for those that are interested in the team pictures, please text the code PGNT88967 to 90738 and then David Banks Studios will notify you when the pictures are available to be viewed and ordered.

Next, for next Thursday's JV meet at Spring Lake Park, the start time has changed.  It will now start at 3:45.  Not sure of the event times yet, but once we get those I will post them.

For the NWSC Meet on May 27, we have been slotted into the 4:00pm start time.  Once we get closer I will put all of the information out for that meet.

Lastly, we have added a meet for the end of the season, June 3rd that will be at Anoka.  This will be a District 11 Relay Meet that will be more for fun and to fill a hole in our schedule.  We are still putting this all together, but we will try to get as many of our athletes into the meet as possible.

Thanks and please look for more updates,
Denny
