Duluth East Invite

Below is the basic info for Fridays meet at Duluth East, including directions to the school.

We will be leaving at 12:30, with everyone getting out of class at 12:00.  If you are missing your usual lunch time, please make sure that you bring food for your lunch.  We will be on a coach bus, so the hope is that there will be wifi for those that need to be doing their homework.

The first races will be starting at 4:15 and this will be a full meet schedule.  I have not received a time schedule, but if I do I will post it.  But, this will be a bit of longer day, so not expecting the last races to be finished until after 7:00/7:30.  Dinner will be provided.  We will not expect to be home until around 10:00, so with that we are asking that the Girls bring everything with them that they brought to school so we do not have to go into the school.  Also, we will have the Girls call when we get close to Forest Lake so we can have all rides to the school by the time we get home.

Any questions, please let me know,
Thanks
Denny

Duluth East High School, 301 North 40th Avenue East, Duluth, MN 55804.  Take Hwy 10 East to I35W North and continue on I35W/I35 to Duluth.  Once in Duluth, continue on I35 until it turns into Hwy 61 North.  Go about 1.3 miles and turn left onto 40th Ave, and the school will be on the left.

Week of April 25, 2022

Here are the basics for the upcoming week.  This is a busy week, so know that I will be getting any additional info out to you as soon as I can, have it, or that it won't be confusing with anything else.

Monday and Thursday are regular practice days.  The weather is looking better, so we will be expecting to be out on the track for practices.

Tuesday is a home meet for just the Girls against Cambridge Isanti.  We will be using the Normal Order of Events (which can be found on the right side of the blog).  With only two teams and only Girls, we may be able to be done by 6:00pm.  First race at 3:45, with the basic time line below.

Wednesday is the Centennial 9/10 Meet.  The bus will be leaving at 2:40 and the first race is at 3:45.  There will be 5 teams at this meet and we will be using those Girls that will not be competing on Friday.  We as coaches will let the Girls know by the end of the meet on Tuesday on whether they will be competing on Wednesday or Friday a the Varsity meet.  The Varsity athletes not competing on Wednesday will be practicing at regular times.

Friday is the Duluth East Invite, with the bus leaving at 12:30 and first race starting around 4:00.  Duluth East is in our Section now, so I felt it would be good to compete against them before we see them at Sections, thus why we are going to Duluth for a meet this year.  This will be a Varsity meet, and as mentioned, we will be letting the athletes know at the end of Tuesdays meet if they are in this meet.  This will be a longer day, we will have a coach bus and I will be setting up a dinner for the girls either at the meet or on the way home.  Some of the money we earned from our fundraiser will be used for this meal.

Friday is also the Hamline Elite Meet.  This would be a meet for anyone that qualifies, thus they must have one of the top times, heights, or distances submitted from any of the schools in the state.  We will submit marks for some of our athletes but won't know until Wednesday afternoon if anyone qualified.

After Tuesday I will put out some more information about Wednesday's meet at Centennial and on Thursday I am hoping to have final information for Duluth posted as well.
Thanks
Denny

Osseo Invite Results

Our Individual results and a link to the Overall Meet results are now on the right side of the blog.  Some of the shorter distance races may seem to have slower times, but these times were electronic and our first two meets were handheld times, so these times are the most accurate so far this season.

We finally were able to get a good day to just go out and compete and not have to worry about the weather and the times were showing it on the track, with many personal and seasonal bests on the day.  There was tough competition but we were able to get some top performances on the day, with Kennedy M taking 2nd to the regning State Champ in the 100m Hurdles and then came back to win the 300IM Hurdles in a personal best time, and Mikayla D taking 2nd in the 100m against one of the fastest girls in the State this year.  In the JV Mile we were able to take 3 of the top 4 spots with Stella B winning, Ella L 3rd and Ruby D 4th!

Next up is a Varsity and JV meet against Cambridge on Tuesday at CRHS.

Thanks
Denny

Park Center JV

Results from yesterday's JV meet at Park Center are posted on the right side of the blog.  We are still waiting on a couple of the results from field events, and once I get those I will add them.  But there will be no overall meet results.

Despite it being an improvement in weather, it was still a chilly day and made competing more challenging than it could be on a warmer day.  But the girls still worked hard and there were some improvements that are starting to be seen.  It's been a tough last couple of weeks and I think a lot of the girls were just excited to compete again!  Times, heights and distances will be stronger when we can hopefully compete in better weather, but we are going to keep helping the girls get ready for their next meet and be at the best that we can be by the end of the season.

Next up is a Varsity meet at Osseo on Thursday.  The girls will be notified at practice today as to who will be competing.  For those that are not, they will need to talk with their event coach on what they will be doing for practice on Thursday.

Thanks,
Denny
